Supporting Our Communities: Part of the Chemstar Tradition

Last week we took a break from our regular blogging schedule to celebrate Thanksgiving. At Chemstar, we take great pride in being good corporate citizens. Contributing to causes our employees are passionate about is one of the benefits of being a family-owned and operated company, a benefit that distinguishes us from others in our industry.

In fact, every year we allocate funds to each facility so they can donate to worthy causes, whether at the local, regional or national level. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to briefly touch on some of the organizations we’re proud and thankful to support.

In the past year, we gave to national causes including Stand by the Wounded, the Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude Research Hospital. Locally, our facility in McPherson, KS sponsors youth basketball and soccer teams. With Minnesota being the “State of Hockey,” our plant in Carlton, MN focuses much of its donations on the local ice arena so kids have a place to skate.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, our donations for the Brookhaven, MS plant went to the American Red Cross to support their relief efforts in that region. Our Minneapolis facility also donates to youth hockey teams in addition to being a strong supporter of Summit Academy, a community-based vocational training and job placement program in North Minneapolis. Summit Academy has provided many people with the necessary skills and training to compete in a rapidly changing job market.

This commitment to supporting our communities and thinking of others is a defining characteristic of Chemstar employees. Each year we’re thankful to be in a position to help others. We hope you had a great Thanksgiving and wish you the best during the holiday season.
